Edward Moore

Died 26th September 1918

Before the war Edward worked at Smeed Dean Cement works. His mother widowed the previous February learnt of her sons death in early October. Edward was wounded in action on the 23rd of August 1918, He had been "over the top" twice that day, but on the second occasion a shell burst close to him and he was wounded by shrapnel. He died a month later of his wounds, his widow lived at 37 Bayford Rd.

Edward is buried at Terlincthun British Cemetery Wimille Pas de Calais France.

At 9.25am on the 16th of September 1916 Walter, along with the rest of the 23rd Bn attacked the German front line east of High Wood they came under heavy fire from the German lines three entire companies never returned
