Gordon worked at the paper mills before the war, It was here that he sustained injuries that at first prevented him from passing his medical examination for active service. However he persisted and eventually the Doctors gave way.
His father of 68 High St Milton was notified of his death in April 1918 after a year of waiting for news since he was reported missing.

Harry was killed in an aerial attack by a German plane on his battery position along side another Sittingbourne lad, Herbert Gibson neither body was found as they took the full force of a direct hit. Son of George and Elizabeth of 28 Epps Road.
