Frank Young Kings Own Scottish Borderers Died 18/08/18 Age 18. Meteren Military Cemetery France.
Frank joined the Army at the age of 16. He went to France and was in the trenches, before his parents informed the authorities of his age. He was sent back to England until after his 17th birthday. Frank would not leave the Army. Although he couldn't serve at the front, he stayed in England until he was old enough to go back to France. In April 1918, Frank was back at the front. First with the Buffs and then to the Middx Regt, attached to the KOSB. His Captain said of him "The gallent young Borden soldier was unfortunatly shot through the head after a hard days work" and was buried on the battlefield.
